The Basic Tenets of the Grocery Store Tag Movement

1. Don’t Be a Dick.

Seriously. It’s not that hard.

2. Be Kind.

To fellow shoppers.
To store employees.
To store managers.
To random strangers.
To animals.
Basically… just don’t be a jerk.

3. Spread Laughter.

Leave the world a little funnier than you found it. If someone smiles, chuckles, or does a double take, mission accomplished.

4. Respect Property.

Only place tags where they won’t damage merchandise, shelves, signs, or store property. Leave everything exactly as you found it—except for the laughter.

5. Don’t Punch Down.

Keep the jokes lighthearted. Don’t create or modify tags that target or insult people because of their race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other personal characteristic.

6. Use Common Sense.

If a tag could cause confusion, create a safety issue, or genuinely upset someone, don’t use it. Funny should never come at someone else’s expense.

7. Have Fun.

Life is serious enough. Grocery shopping doesn’t have to be.
